The Joy of Handspinning is a production and instructional studio teaching the craft of handspinning and manufacturing luxury handspun yarns. We are also an on-line retail store dedicated to the sale of the finest spinning equipment and supplies, natural fibers, carding equipment, and dyes.
If you break the yarn while spinning or you spin to the end of your fiber, you will need to add more fiber if you want to extend the length of your yarn. When adding on new fiber to your spun yarn, be sure to leave a least 2 inches of unspun fiber on the end of the yarn.
Tulasi Kilgore is an award-winning handspinner and the owner / creator of The Joy of Handspinning. She is a native of Columbus, Ohio and now resides in Helena, Montana. Tulasi holds a Master of Fine Arts degree (M.F.A.) from Miami University of Ohio and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.
Handspinning is the art of twisting fiber into a continuous thread by hand or by using a spinning wheel. The thread can be spun thick or thin, plyed or unplyed, and can later be dyed or left natural. Handspun yarn can be used for knitting, and weaving projects.
