Velvet is the term used to describe the elk antler before it starts to calcify. It is called velvet because of the soft, fuzzy covering that it has. A truly renewable resource, velvet can be harvested from bull elk every year. The animal is not harmed or killed for its product.
We have been active in elk associations at both the state and national level. Don has been a velvet judge and a hard antler judge for NAEBA (North American Elk Breeder's Association).

We have grown our elk herd from four animals to seventy. Using artificial insemination and selective breeding, we have been steadily improving our genetics and all of our elk are registered purebred with NAEBA.
